Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7PM–7AM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Stepdown unit at a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1, managing a wide range of complex medical conditions including COPD, CHF, sepsis, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, and respiratory conditions
• Manage and monitor patients requiring advanced airway support including tracheostomies, ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, face mask ventilation, and chest tubes
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Heparin, and vasopressors
• Monitor all patients on bedside Phillips cardiac monitors; confirm telemetry strip interpretations provided by tele techs
• Manage invasive lines and tubes including PICC lines, central lines, G-tubes, and NG tubes
• Float to ICU (with extensive ICU experience), other Stepdown units, or General Med as needed; travel RNs are first to float

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Prior ICU or Intermediate/Stepdown experience with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1 or 2:1 — progressive care or telemetry experience alone is not sufficient
• Tracheostomy and ventilator experience required (trach/vented patients are frequently seen on this unit)
• Must comply with a drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (recommended)
• Experience titrating vasoactive drips and managing hemodynamically complex patients
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records
• Extensive ICU experience preferred for candidates who may float to the ICU
