Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department serving a broad patient population, from newborns to the elderly, across a wide spectrum of acuity levels
• Manage and titrate a variety of critical drips including vasopressors, cardiac drips, and antihypertensive medications
• Recognize and respond to life-threatening cardiac rhythms; interpret monitor strips using Philips monitoring equipment
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including ED physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, ED techs, respiratory therapists, and a 24/7 house supervisor
• Draw and collect lab specimens as needed in coordination with ED techs
• Care for stabilized trauma patients transferred from the trauma bay to a pod setting; travelers will not serve as the primary nurse in the trauma bay

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, ENPC or PALS, and TNCC or TNS
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment
• Ability to pass a drug screen; placement is at a drug-free campus
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• SANE RN experience
• Prior experience working in a teaching hospital with residents
• Proficiency with vasopressor and cardiac drip titration in a critical care or emergency setting
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
