Key Responsibilities

• Implement physical therapy treatment plans under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, serving both inpatient and outpatient populations across a variety of settings
• Document patient encounters including diagnoses, treatment plans, recommendations, and prognoses in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Develop and deliver patient and family education, including home exercise programs, ensuring instructions are clearly understood through feedback and demonstration
• Assist with the acquisition and fitting of durable medical equipment and adaptive devices based on individual patient needs
• Participate in occasional multi-day travel to remote locations, which may include travel by boat or small plane in variable weather conditions

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from a CAPTE-accredited program
• Active Physical Therapist Assistant license issued by the Alaska State Board of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Valid driver's license
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Clinical Competency Assessment and High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in acute care hospital and outpatient clinical settings
• Proficiency with adaptive devices including splints, braces, orthoses, seating equipment, and ADL assistive devices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Familiarity with billing mechanisms including Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers
