Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 40-bed PCU/Stepdown unit with common diagnoses including CHF, COPD, MI, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, ETOH withdrawal, renal failure, stroke, and altered mental status
• Interpret and document telemetry rhythms; manage non-titratable cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Diltiazem/Cardizem, Lasix, and Heparin drip nursing protocol
• Perform chest tube management using Emerson/Pleur-Evac systems and assist with peritoneal dialysis using the Amia PD System
• Respond as recorder and timekeeper during Code Team activations
• Float within scope to other units, including non-telemetry Med-Surg units, based on hospital census and staffing needs
• Document all assessments and care using Cerner iVIEW; complete required annual modules virtually

Required Qualifications

• Valid Maryland RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Prophecy Relias Advanced EKG assessment required
• 4 hours of annual stroke continuing education required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown or Med-Surg/Telemetry experience required
• Strong EKG interpretation skills; experience managing non-titratable cardiac drips, CVA patients, and chest tube management required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with peritoneal dialysis and the Amia PD System
• Familiarity with Heparin drip nursing protocols and portable telemetry monitoring
• Prior experience on a Stroke Certified unit
• Comfort managing patients received from the Emergency Department, ICU step-downs, and direct admissions
