Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the full nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned cardiac critical care patients.
• Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed therapies, including management of multiple drips and high-acuity patients with complex comorbidities.
• Support and manage patients requiring advanced cardiac interventions including post-cardiothoracic surgery recovery (fresh from OR), IMPELLA, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Arctic Sun, and TABLO XT/CRRT.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and connect with appropriate resources.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license
• Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a critical care setting
• Must attend New Nurse Orientation within the first 30 days and complete all designated organizational and department-specific competency validations during onboarding

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Prior experience with CABGs and post-cardiothoracic surgical patient recovery
• Familiarity with IMPELLA, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Arctic Sun, and CRRT/TABLO XT devices
• Previous experience with Epic EMR
