Contract | Days | 5x8 Hours (6:45 AM – 3:15 PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a 23-room OR, supporting multiple service lines including General Surgery, Trauma, Orthopedics, Neurology, Plastics, Urology, and Transplant (CV excluded)
• Perform scrub and/or circulating duties for a wide range of surgical procedures including Craniotomy, Lumbar/Cervical Fusion, Whipple, Free Flap Microvascular, Organ Donation, and Trauma cases
• Respond to emergent situations including code response, Malignant Hyperthermia, and Fire Safety protocols
• Operate and manage surgical equipment including electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables
• Maintain compliance with Universal Protocol (Time Out), Infection Control, Radiation Safety, and Specimen Handling/Labeling standards
• Participate in on-call rotation (approximately 1 shift per week) and weekend requirements as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room RN experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Active Illinois RN license required — must be active and in hand or actively in the application process at time of submission
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
• CNOR certification required
• Demonstrated Level I Trauma OR experience required
• General OR and Trauma case experience required, including Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon Resection, Hernia Repair, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy, Arthroscopy, Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy, Amputations, and MVA/Gunshot/Stab Wound cases
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
• Familiarity with Bariatric laparoscopic-assisted cases
• Experience with Microvascular/Free Flap procedures
