Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Weekend requirement applies | No on-call requirement | No floating
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for laboring patients, including management of patients on Pitocin for induction or augmentation
- Circulate for cesarean section procedures
- Monitor and care for antepartum patients and triage patients according to AWHONN staffing standards
- Conduct initial newborn assessments and provide immediate postpartum care (mother and baby) for the first two hours post-birth
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios in accordance with AWHONN guidelines based on patient acuity
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of employment or valid compact license
- Current BLS certification required
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Current ACLS certification required
- Current certification required from one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in Labor and Delivery, including circulating for C-sections and antepartum care
- Familiarity with cervical ripening agents such as Cytotec and low-dose Pitocin protocols
- Experience working within AWHONN staffing standards and acuity-based patient assignments
