Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity Surgical PCU serving ENT, thoracic, general surgery, urology, and medical overflow populations
• Perform cardiac monitoring, management of chest tubes, fresh trachs, feeding tubes, epidurals, and non-titratable cardiac drips
• Manage IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips, external BiPAP/CPAP, total laryngectomy care, and Doppler flap checks
• Maintain a staffing ratio of 1:3–4 patients; charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided
• Float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the facility or to an affiliate hospital as needed; floating is required of all travelers — refusal to float may result in contract termination
• May be assigned students to shadow or precept as part of a teaching facility environment

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license — must be in hand prior to start date (temporary license may be acceptable once permanent license application has been submitted)
• ACLS and BCLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; 18 months minimum considered depending on unit specifics
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, chest tube management, epidural care, and high-acuity surgical patient populations
• Must be willing to precept or supervise students as required by the teaching facility
• Indiana residents are not accepted for this PCU position

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with ENT, thoracic, or complex general/urologic surgical patient populations (e.g., esophagectomy, lobectomy, urinary diversions, pancreatic surgery)
• Familiarity with total laryngectomy care and Doppler flap assessments
• Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers are also accepted
