Registered Nurse – Surgical ICU (SICU)

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Rotating Weekends | Expected 36 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Surgical ICU setting, managing complex and critically ill patients
• Perform and assist with procedures including chest tubes, intubations, central lines, arterial lines, NG tubes, Foley catheters, and dressing changes
• Apply strong critical thinking skills to assess, plan, and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions
• Document patient care accurately using the Meditech electronic documentation system
• Adhere to unit floating policy; all travelers are expected to float per facility guidelines
• Maintain punctuality and compliance with badging requirements, including a full 30-minute lunch break

Required Qualifications

• Active Texas RN License required — temporary licenses will not be accepted
• Minimum 2–3 years of ICU experience
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills

Preferred Experience / Skills

• MICU or MSICU background
• Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
• Exposure to Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• Prior experience with Meditech documentation system
