Contract | Days | Three 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 56-bed Adult Medical Specialty Unit managing a diverse acute care general medicine population including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and behavioral health and addiction cases
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 during day hours (07:00–23:00) and 1:5–6 during night hours (23:00–07:30)
• Manage and monitor central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
• Operate and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP/CPAP for sleep apnea, administer inhalers, and perform suctioning
• Monitor telemetry via Philips monitors; house-wide telemetry is monitored remotely with RN ability to view strips on pack or computer
• Float as needed to other acute care general medicine areas including nephrology, neurology, orthopedics, and oncology

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Ability to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Locals are welcome — candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience on a Medical Surgical floor strongly preferred
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records
• Experience in a Level I Trauma Center (may be considered in lieu of travel experience when combined with EPIC experience)
• Familiarity with set-rate drips such as Heparin and Lasix
