Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex neurological diagnoses including strokes (with/without tPA), ventriculostomy patients, and post-craniectomy cases
• Titrate physician-ordered drips as required in an ICU setting, following individualized physician orders
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry strips using Philips monitors; a tele tech is staffed on every shift
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, and acute stroke protocols including tPA administration
• Float as needed to intermediate care (1:3 ratio) or general floor units (1:4 ratio) when staffing requires; travelers float first

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification required
• Candidates must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Local placements are welcome — candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Hands-on experience with ventriculostomy management
• Proficiency with ventilator management, arterial lines, and central lines
• Experience with acute stroke management and post-craniectomy care
• Prior ICU-level drip titration experience across a broad range of physician-ordered medications
