Contract | 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM or 7:00 PM–7:30 AM) | Days and Nights available | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 26-bed orthopedic unit managing joint replacements, trauma, spine surgery, and fractures, as well as medical overflow patients (e.g., GI bleed, UTI, pneumonia)
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, collaborating with patient care technicians and charge nurses on each shift
• Monitor and manage patients on CPAP/BiPAP (nighttime use) and nasal cannula; no ventilator management required
• Care for telemetry patients as needed; house-wide monitor technicians read and interpret strips — nurses are not required to independently read telemetry strips
• Float to other hospital units as needed, excluding OB, OR, and ED
• Adhere to a drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels prior to placement

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with demonstrated orthopedic nursing skills
• Must meet drug screening requirements prior to start
• Locals within 50 miles of the facility are welcome and eligible for this position

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for post-surgical orthopedic patients including joint replacements and spine surgery
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
• Experience working alongside patient care technicians in a team-based care model
