Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 23-bed Neuro Telemetry unit serving a variety of neurological, medical, surgical, and cardiovascular conditions including CVA, TIA, syncope, encephalopathy, altered mental status, brain mass, aspiration pneumonia, atherosclerosis, angina, and related diagnostic and surgical procedure patients
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6, with support from nurse aides and patient care techs on the unit
• Monitor patients using Phillips telemetry monitoring (house-wide monitor techs read and interpret strips; RNs are not required to independently read strips)
• Manage CPAP/BiPap and nasal cannula oxygen delivery as needed; no ventilator management required
• Float to other hospital units as needed, excluding OB, OR, and ED
• Adhere to a drug-free campus policy, including compliance with all drug screening requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Neuro and telemetry nursing experience required
• Locals are welcome — candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients with cerebrovascular and neurological conditions such as CVA, TIA, and encephalopathy
• Familiarity with Phillips telemetry monitoring systems
• Experience working in a self-scheduling or block-scheduling environment
