Registered Nurse PACU

Job Title

• Registered Nurse - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

• Travel, 13-week assignment, on-site, day shifts

Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from surgery in a busy PACU setting
• Monitor and assess patient vitals and recovery status, ensuring safety and comfort
• Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to coordinate patient care
• Document patient progress accurately in the electronic medical record system
• Assist with patient transitions from the PACU to appropriate care stages
• Maintain compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia or applicable state
• Minimum of 2 years of PACU or perioperative nursing experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Strong experience with orthopedic trauma, craniotomy, and complex procedures
• Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations during 12-hour night shifts
• Proven teamwork skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with scrub duties and orthopedic trauma surgeries
• Familiarity with surgical equipment such as Davinci, Mazor, Jackson beds, and fracture beds
• Prior experience with Meditech electronic medical records system
• Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude

Additional Details

• Shifts: 7:30 PM – 7:00 AM, working 3 days per week (weekend nights)
• Scrubs provided; professional dress code required
• Compensation around $73 per hour (based on current rates)
• Located at a prominent hospital on Electric Road in Salem, VA
