Contract | Nights | Three 12-hour shifts per week | Weekday and weekend rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for ventilated patients, including initiating and titrating IV drips such as vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Assist with intubations and line placement as part of a critical care team
- Monitor and manage critically ill patients with diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia
- Care for both ICU and progressive care patients within a mixed-acuity unit, with a higher frequency of progressive patient assignments
- Utilize unit equipment including Phillips heart monitors, Epic (EMR), Pyxis, EKG machines, and dopplers
- Float as needed to other ICU, progressive care, or medical-surgical units while maintaining established nurse-to-patient ratios
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana
- Minimum of 1.5 years of ICU nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Strong critical thinking, reasoning, and flexibility in a fast-paced, mixed-acuity environment
- Team-oriented and collaborative approach to patient care
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2 or more years of ICU nursing experience
- Solid background in medical patient care and critical care nursing
- Familiarity with Epic EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
