Registered Nurse Oncology

Job Title

• Registered Nurse – Oncology (Night Shift)

• Full-time, Nights, 36 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to oncology and medical-surgical patients.
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injections.
• Monitor and manage patient conditions, including blood product administration, central line care, and wound management.
• Collaborate with healthcare team for patient assessments and care planning.
• Float to similar units or alternate inpatient care locations as needed, including ED holding areas.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including isolation precautions and infection control measures.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in North Carolina or a valid compact license.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient nursing experience.
• Experience in Med/Surg, Oncology, and related procedures such as port access and blood draws.
• Oncology certification required (must have or obtain prior to start).
• Ability to administer chemotherapy and IV medications.
• Must pass EKG testing within 48 hours of start.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Charge nurse experience.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) credential.
• CPI certification.
• Experience with Epic documentation system.

Additional Details

• Shift: Night (3 x 12-hour shifts, 18:45 - 07:15).
• Orientation: 24 hours (2 shifts).
• Patient population includes general medical-surgical with oncology history, including chemotherapy administration.
• Floating to similar units and alternate inpatient locations required.
• Participation in storm/hurricane teams and disaster response is mandated.
• Must complete required modules and maintain certification requirements.
• RTO requests up to 7 days are auto-approved if they do not fall on major holidays; more days require facility approval.
• Candidates must be comfortable floating and working under variable census circumstances.
• All candidates must comply with travel, rehire, and credentialing policies prior to assignment.
