Key Responsibilities
- Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments incorporating the patient's culture, age, and developmental level, and develop individualized care plans in coordination with the inter-professional team.
- Fully implement patient care therapies and procedures within scope of practice, including initiating actions to alleviate patient stress and discomfort and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Provide patient and family-centered education, explaining procedures, treatments, and processes at an appropriate level of comprehension.
- Facilitate admission, transfer, and discharge activities, including timely execution of discharge orders and coordination with case management.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and monitor the accuracy and completeness of patient care activities performed by other team members.
- Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement activities, core measures, and documentation auditing to promote nursing excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kentucky.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of the care team.
- Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Proficiency with or ability to be trained on relevant computer systems and clinical applications.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Previous clinical nursing experience in labor and delivery, recovery, or postpartum settings.
