Full-Time, Direct Hire | Rotating Days and Weekends (40 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform initial triage and comprehensive assessments for urgent care patients of all ages, including history of present illness, vital signs, immunization status, and preventative health needs; provide telephone triage and self-care advice as needed.
  • Administer therapeutic measures and medications via oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal, and IV routes; initiate and maintain IV access; operate and monitor specialized equipment per provider orders and standing orders.
  • Accurately document assessments, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures, and patient education in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Coordinate patient referrals, track referral progress and outcomes, proactively identify delays or obstacles to care, and serve as a primary link for case managers and referral coordinators.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and adequately stocked work environment; adhere to infection control policies; report defective equipment and safety hazards immediately.
  • Participate in department improvement efforts, continued clinical team development, and respond to emergency situations as part of the triage team.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; eligible to sit for the NCLEX.
  • Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state; must have applied for an Alaska nursing license prior to start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 2 years of general nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ambulatory or urgent care clinic setting.
  • Clinical Competency Assessment and High Risk Competency completion required within 3 months of hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems for accurate patient data entry and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply theory-based nursing practice models, evidence-based practices, and shared governance in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced clinical environment.
