Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on an 18-bed Blood Cancer Oncology unit with a 3–4:1 patient ratio on night shift
- Administer medications, blood products, and electrolyte replacements in accordance with unit protocols and standing orders
- Operate telemetry monitoring, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Alaris PCA devices; document care using Meditech EMR
- Assist with and support procedures including lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies with and without conscious sedation, and thoracentesis
- Handle hazardous drugs safely and follow established education protocols for excreta management
- Collaborate within a team-oriented environment to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to acute hematology and oncology patients
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 1 year of current, hospital-based acute care Oncology experience
- Ability to work night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) in a fast-paced, high-acuity oncology environment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Chemo and biotherapy certification (note: administration of chemo/biotherapy requires certification)
- Step-down or high-acuity experience, particularly with standing orders such as fluid bolus and first fever protocols
- Compassionate approach to oncology and chronic patient populations
- Adaptable, quick-learning personality well-suited to a collaborative team culture
