Key Responsibilities

• Actively participate in time-out procedures, label all solutions and medications on the sterile field, and perform counts according to policy to ensure patient safety.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment; set up efficiently and be scrubbed and in the room prior to patient arrival.
• Maintain and protect the sterile field throughout each procedure while adhering to aseptic technique standards.
• Communicate effectively with OR team members, follow chain of command, and contribute to room turnover by returning rooms to a ready state at the end of each case.
• Practice safe handling of specimens, implants, explants, and sharps; utilize PPE and neutral zone techniques consistently.
• Assist with cleaning, stocking, and organization of the OR, and support peers and students in a preceptor capacity as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology Program, or completion of a Surgical Technologist Program through the United States Armed Forces.
• Active BLS certification required.
• One of the following certifications required: NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C).
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Scrub Tech, or equivalent training.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced operating room environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) setting is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to expedite room turnover and manage ancillary OR duties including central sterile support.
