Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture blood draws, heel sticks, and finger pokes in both inpatient and outpatient settings; verify patient information and conduct drug screens and breathalyzers.
• Send out pathology and cytology specimens, bone marrow biopsies, and fine needle aspirates.
• Review and input patient demographics for pathology; review and print pathology reports and input histology charges as received.
• Order tests and prepare them according to established standards; review lab orders for accuracy and confirm or update physician information as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of phlebotomy protocols and communicate updates and procedural changes as required.
• Perform additional duties as requested by supervisors.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Comprehensive phlebotomy skills and knowledge of lab protocols.
• Intermediate proficiency with computers required.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
• Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills; self-starter with a compassionate approach to patient care.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 1 or more years of related phlebotomy or clinical laboratory work experience preferred.
• Valid and current driver's license preferred.
