Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture blood draws, heel sticks, and finger pokes in both inpatient and outpatient settings; verify patient information and conduct drug screens and breathalyzers.
- Send out pathology and cytology specimens, bone marrow biopsies, and fine needle aspirates.
- Review and input patient demographics for pathology; review and print pathology reports and input histology charges as received.
- Order tests and prepare them according to established standards; review lab orders for accuracy and confirm or update physician information as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of phlebotomy protocols and communicate updates and procedural changes as required.
- Perform additional duties as requested by supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
- Comprehensive phlebotomy skills and knowledge of lab protocols.
- Intermediate proficiency with computers required.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
- Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills; self-starter with a compassionate approach to patient care.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 1 or more years of related phlebotomy or clinical laboratory work experience preferred.
- Valid and current driver's license preferred.
