Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | 3 Weekend Shifts per 4-Week Period

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with an inter-professional team
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and telemetry monitoring
• Utilize electronic health record system (Epic) and unit equipment including IV pumps, Pyxis machines, Accucheck glucometers, and SCDs for VTE prevention
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/20) required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (600+ beds)
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing complex, multi-diagnosis patient populations in a high-acuity medical-surgical environment
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and management of drip infusions in a large hospital setting
• Comfort with floating to various medical units and adapting quickly to new team environments
