Contract | Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 3x12-hour shifts) | Onsite | 36–48 hours available | 13-week contracts accepted

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient psychiatric nursing care to adult and geriatric patients across all mental health diagnoses on a locked behavioral health unit spanning multiple floors, rotating between areas of varying acuity
• Administer and monitor psychiatric medications including antianxiety agents, antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and sedatives/analgesics
• Perform and interpret blood glucose monitoring, lab value communication, oxygen administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• Implement crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, behavior management, psychoeducation, and manage assaultive behavior including emergent chemical restraints, physical hold protocols, and seclusion procedures
• Facilitate voluntary and involuntary commitment processes and support safe patient monitoring using proximity-based technology
• Float to medical-surgical units as needed and participate in every-other-weekend scheduling with on-call requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in NC or a Compact state
• Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experience
• Experience in inpatient psychiatric settings including locked units and substance use/chemical dependency
• Proficiency with a broad range of psychiatric diagnoses including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, PTSD, depressive disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and suicidal/self-injurious behavior
• MOAB certification required
• Proficiency with EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR communication

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working with patients with congenital or developmental disorders and profound impulse control issues
• Ability to start and maintain IV access
