Contract | Onsite | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 Hours per Week | 13-Week Contract
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to NICU patients including premature infants (as low as 22 weeks gestational age) and surgical infants in a Level 3 or 4 ICN setting
- Manage and monitor patients requiring specialized procedures including Therapeutic Hypothermia, Nitric Oxide therapy, UAC/UVC lines, Broviacs, Trachs, GTT, and Ostomies
- Operate specialized equipment including Servo Vents, HFOV, BCPAP, Ram NC, Tecotherm, Baby Leo, Giraffe, and Alaris IV pumps
- Utilize electronic health record and unit systems including EPIC, Pyxis, SBAR, and 4P documentation
- Adhere to a patient ratio of 1:2–4 and participate in self-scheduling per unit needs
- Float as needed to Peds, PICU, or nursery settings caring for infants up to and including 12 months of age
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in a Level 3 or Level 4 ICN/NICU — candidates with less than 3 years of NICU experience will not be considered
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
- Current BLS certification
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Proficiency with mechanical ventilators in a neonatal care setting
- Ability to complete required pre-start online modules prior to first day of assignment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV) and advanced neonatal respiratory support modalities
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records in an acute care environment
- Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are also accepted)
