Key Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for CT scanning procedures, verifying patient identity, medical history, and physician orders to ensure appropriate imaging protocols are followed.
- Operate CT scanner equipment to acquire high-quality diagnostic images according to established protocols, adjusting scanning parameters such as slice thickness, exposure settings, and contrast administration as needed.
- Monitor patients during scanning procedures for adverse reactions or complications, and perform image processing techniques including windowing, reconstruction, and multiplanar reformatting.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles to minimize patient and staff exposure to ionizing radiation, and ensure proper documentation of procedures and any adverse events.
- Provide guidance to colleagues regarding CT imaging techniques, patient positioning, and radiation safety, and participate in the orientation of new staff and radiology students.
- Perform daily equipment checks and quality control tests, collaborating with biomedical engineers and service technicians to address equipment malfunctions and participating in quality assurance initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from a JRCERT-accredited Radiology Program, or military training graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program as validated by an active ARRT Certification.
- Current license through the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
- ARRT registered or registry eligible.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong knowledge of CT imaging principles, techniques, equipment operation, and post-processing techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Two (2) years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiology.
- Prior experience working as a CT Technologist in a hospital or medical imaging facility.
- Additional certification in Computed Tomography (CT) by the ARRT or other recognized certifying body.
