Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | 3 Weekend Shifts per 4-Week Period | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and other clinical equipment
• Utilize the Epic electronic health record system, Pyxis medication dispensing, Hospira IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring equipment
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6

Required Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/2020 or later)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience in a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing complex patient populations including neurological, GI, and infectious disease diagnoses
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols
• Experience with wound vac management, chest tubes, and enteral feeding systems
