Key Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations including code blue and rapid response events; provide airway management and support for patients on invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
• Administer provider-prescribed medicated and non-medicated respiratory therapies, including small volume nebulizers, metered dose inhalers, chest physiotherapy, and positive expiratory pressure devices.
• Perform patient assessments, provide clinical recommendations to providers, and deliver patient and family education on respiratory disease, therapy, and medications.
• Conduct diagnostic procedures including pulmonary function testing, arterial and capillary blood gas sampling, oximetry studies, 12-lead ECG, Holter monitoring, and neurodiagnostic studies.
• Document patient assessments, therapy, and pertinent clinical information in the medical record; participate in shift reports, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings.
• Clean, prepare, and maintain respiratory equipment including mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas delivery devices; ensure proper functioning of departmental analyzers.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Active state respiratory therapy certification or license appropriate for facility location.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (PALS may not be required for PFT-only roles as determined by hiring manager).
• NRP certification required for candidates working with neonatal populations (may not be required for PFT-only roles as determined by hiring manager).
• Demonstrated competency in invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, medicated and non-medicated therapy, airway management, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, and patient assessment.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care.
• Prior healthcare or customer service experience.
• Experience working under a limited permit or student respiratory therapy license.
