Registered Nurse - Pediatric Float Pool (PICU)

Schedule / Job Type
Full-time, 3 shifts per week, Days (12-hour shifts), 13-week contract
Key Responsibilities
- Float to various pediatric units including PICU, NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby.
- Provide high-quality nursing care tailored to pediatric patients across multiple units.
- Adhere to unit-specific policies, float policies, and documentation standards, including Epic charting.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Comply with all safety, infection control, and certification requirements.
- Maintain competency in pediatric critical care procedures and protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years PICU experience.
- Valid state RN license (pending licenses accepted with submission; must have license in-hand the Wednesday before start date).
- Pediatric experience, including PICU and NICU, with comfort in float roles.
- Current BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Dr. Brown’s Infant Driven Feeding Certification (pending submission acceptable, cost of $185).
- Epic experience required.
- Able to work day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Peds PACU experience highly preferred.
- BSN degree preferred.
- Previous float pool experience in pediatric settings.

Additional Notes
- Must adhere to UVA float policy and travel compliance guidelines.
- RTO requests are limited to 40 hours per 13-week contract; no additional RTO requests will be approved post-acceptance.
- Local candidates are generally not accepted for certain specialized units.
- Candidates must comply with background screening and credentialing policies.
