Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Urology/Nephrology)

Contract | Days (3x12 Hours, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 25-bed Medical Surgical Urology/Nephrology unit with an average daily census of 23
• Perform pre- and post-hemodialysis management and care for patients with renal failure
• Administer blood products and manage peripheral lines, PICC lines, and central line blood draws
• Monitor patients via remote telemetry and participate in Rapid Response Team activations as needed
• Manage respiratory support modalities including CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, and portable oxygen
• Float to other Medical Surgical units within the facility as needed to meet patient care demands

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license required at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record system
• Experience with IV therapy including starting IVs, PICC line management, and heparin administration
• Competency in wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, and non-invasive airway management

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Med/Surg Telemetry setting
• Familiarity with genitourinary and renal patient populations
• Experience in a Magnet-designated or Level I Trauma acute care hospital environment
