Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts | 36 Hours per Week | 12-Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume emergency room setting with a daily census averaging 160–180 patients
- Function in a Charge Nurse capacity, overseeing pod-based teams of up to 10 beds
- Care for a diverse patient population including stroke patients, pediatric patients, and nursing home transfers
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 in standard care areas and 1:6 in triage
- Collaborate within an integrated care team including PCTs and physicians in a geographically co-located unit structure
- Adhere to weekend and holiday coverage requirements as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN License (must be in hand at time of submission)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (must be in hand at time of submission)
- CPI, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications (must be in hand at time of submission)
- ECRN Region 9 certification (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 3–5 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior Charge Nurse experience in an emergency room setting
- Experience with Epic EMR system
- Background caring for stroke patients and complex pediatric cases
