Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients.
• Conduct technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams.
• Coordinate with hospital departments for scheduling, patient transport, and billing.
• Assist cardiologists by preparing and measuring M-modes, and exchanging relevant exam information.
• Respond to patient needs during exams and report any changes in patient condition to medical staff.
• Maintain equipment quality control and keep exam rooms clean and stocked.
• Log patient and exam data, and participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
• Support on-call coverage for emergency echocardiogram procedures outside regular hours.
• Keep up-to-date with advancements in echocardiography and seek knowledge from cardiology colleagues.
• Assist with other cardiac procedures as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two-year allied health education program related to patient care.
• Certification/license in diagnostic medical sonography (ARDMS/CCI registered or eligible, or comparable accreditation).
• State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Manual dexterity for performing echocardiograms.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• At least two years of hands-on echocardiogram experience.
• Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
