Psychiatric Registered Nurse – Nights (Travel Contract)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | 36–48 Hours Per Week | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays as Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient-centered nursing care within an acute inpatient psychiatric setting serving adult and geriatric populations
• Monitor and assess patients requiring 24-hour acute inpatient psychiatric treatment under the direction of a multidisciplinary team including daily psychiatrist oversight
• Utilize sensory reduction tools and de-escalation techniques to support anger management and coping skills development
• Collaborate with nursing and ancillary staff to support patient recovery and achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Float to other units or facilities as operationally required
• Document patient care accurately using the facility EMR system (Meditech)

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher
• Active Registered Nurse license in Alabama or a valid compact state license (temporary licenses not accepted); must be verifiable through NURSYS
• Current AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS certification
• Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
• Minimum of 18 months of experience working under the highest level of professional licensure, with at least 1 year of recent experience in psychiatric nursing

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 2 or more years of psychiatric nursing experience in an acute inpatient setting
• Experience working with both adult and geriatric psychiatric patient populations
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR
