Contract | Days | 4x10-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 5:15 PM) | Onsite | One weekend shift required per month | On-call required approximately once per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care across multiple surgical service lines in a 23-room OR environment, excluding cardiovascular services
• Perform scrub and/or circulating duties for general surgery, orthopedic, neurological, urological, plastic surgery, transplant, trauma, and bariatric cases
• Execute emergency management protocols including code response, malignant hyperthermia management, fire safety, and latex allergy precautions
• Administer blood products, perform urinary bladder catheterization, and ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and universal protocol (time-out) compliance
• Operate and manage surgical equipment including electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables
• Maintain infection control standards, radiation safety practices, and documentation in an electronic health record system

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room RN experience; first-time travelers not accepted
• Active Illinois RN license in hand or actively in the application process at time of submission
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
• Level I trauma experience required, including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multi-injury MVA cases
• Demonstrated experience across required surgical specialties including general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, urology, plastic surgery (free flap/microvascular), and organ donation
• Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CNOR certification preferred
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system preferred
