- Full-time, day shifts, 1 shift per week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatments following the plan of care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
- Review clinical records, case histories, and collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
- Document patient encounters, treatment plans, progress, and outcomes accurately in compliance with hospital policies.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, activities, and the use of equipment to promote independence.
- Assist in selecting and fitting durable medical equipment and assistive devices based on individual patient needs.
- Participate in community outreach, home assessments, and provide therapy services in various settings outside the hospital, including community centers and patients’ homes.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Valid State of Alaska Physical Therapist Assistant license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Clinical competency within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in acute care hospital and outpatient settings preferred.
- Knowledge of musculoskeletal physiology, range of motion, gait analysis, and adaptive device fitting.
- Proficiency with documentation, billing processes, and healthcare software applications.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain treatment procedures effectively to patients and families.
