Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic Focus)

Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts | 36 or 48 Hours per Week Available | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a focus on orthopedic and neuro spine patients
• Manage pain effectively for post-surgical, orthopedic, and spine patients requiring close monitoring
• Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring as part of routine patient care
• Maintain patient ratios of 5–6:1, with the ability to flex as census demands
• Float to other Medical Surgical units within the facility as needed to meet staffing requirements
• Document patient care accurately using the facility's electronic health record system

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license – NC state or Compact license required
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience with demonstrated orthopedic nursing experience
• Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Current BCLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification
• Charge Nurse experience
• Level I Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system (required for first-time travelers)
