Registered Nurse – ICU (Critical Care Float Pool)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights (3x12 Hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday); holiday shifts may be required
Key Responsibilities
- Float across multiple critical care units including Surgical ICU, Medical ICU, Cardiac Care Unit, and Oncology ICU based on facility needs
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients including trauma, surgical, neurological, cardiac, oncology, and medically complex cases
- Manage patients requiring increased level of care such as DKA, ETOH withdrawal, chemo inductions, and post-cardiac procedure monitoring
- Accurately document all patient care activities using EPIC electronic health records
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to deliver safe, high-quality critical care
- Adapt to varying patient populations and unit environments as part of a critical care float pool
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license for the state of Virginia or valid compact license (must be in hand at time of submittal)
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU/critical care nursing experience, with specialty experience within the last year
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- EPIC electronic health records experience
- NIH stroke scale certification and stroke education
- Valid Social Security Number required at time of submittal; one supervisory reference required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience floating across multiple ICU unit types (surgical, medical, cardiac, oncology)
- Flexible scheduling availability with ability to minimize time-off requests during assignment
- Prior travel nursing experience in an acute care setting
