Contract | 13-Week Assignment | 3x12-Hour Rotating Days/Mids/Nights | 36 Hours/Week | Every Other Weekend | Holidays per Unit Schedule

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols, maintaining knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served in the Emergency Department.
  • Assess patient conditions and develop individualized plans of care addressing physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs.
  • Identify early warning signs of changes in patient condition and respond appropriately, including instituting emergency measures for sudden adverse developments.
  • Assess, intervene, and reassess patient pain and symptoms promptly, taking appropriate action per standard operating procedure.
  • Facilitate coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary team, report pertinent observations accurately, and complete all incident reports prior to the end of each shift.
  • Initiate discharge planning and patient/family education as early as possible to optimize understanding and ensure safe discharge.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or a Compact State license — required prior to start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — required prior to start date.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification — required prior to start date.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — American Heart Association (AHA) — required prior to start date.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification — American Heart Association (AHA) — required prior to start date.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) — required upon qualification into course.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification or willingness to obtain upon qualification.
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting.
  • Strong ability to delegate nursing interventions appropriately within scope of practice.
