Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular (TCV) surgical patients in a 28-bed unit encompassing acute care and intermediate care beds
• Care for post-surgical patients including those recovering from CABG, cardiac valve repair/replacement, AAA repair, lung resection, esophagectomy, heart and lung transplant, limb amputations, femoral popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
• Monitor and manage intermediate care patients requiring advanced monitoring beyond standard acute care, including those on select cardiac drips and arterial lines
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 4–5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in the intermediate care setting
• Float within scope of practice as needed per facility float policy
• Document and manage patient care using Epic EMR

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (pending license accepted; must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience
• BLS certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must adhere to facility float policy
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• BSN preferred
• Experience in a cardiac, thoracic, or vascular surgical care environment
• Familiarity with intermediate/step-down unit care including arterial line monitoring and thrombolytic administration
