Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 29-bed Medical Surgical unit managing a wide range of medical diagnoses including GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, DVT, pulmonary embolisms, osteomyelitis, and comfort measures
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5–6:1 on night shift
• Titrate Heparin drips as required; manage patients with oxygen requirements up to 6L NC and stable BiPAP/CPAP
• Perform IV starts and utilize unit resources when needed; collaborate with inpatient phlebotomy team for blood draws
• Float to other Med/Surg-like units as needed (no ICU or chemotherapy patient assignments)
• Participate in rotating weekend and holiday schedules; nightshift weekend requirement is Friday/Saturday every other weekend

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy; a negative drug screen for all panels is required
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Medical Surgical or general inpatient setting
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring (Philips equipment preferred); note that telemetry is monitored remotely by a house-wide telemetry department
• Experience managing a diverse medical patient population including elderly patients and those requiring comfort measures
