Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical patients including those with diagnoses such as pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, surgical cases, total joints, and general surgery, with occasional pediatric respiratory cases
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on nights, ensuring safe and effective patient care across an 18–22 bed unit
• Conduct minimum three daily touchpoints with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to oversee and collaborate on nursing cares including Foley care, CHG bathing, oral care, and plan of care updates
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitoring systems, supported by virtual central telemetry monitoring
• Manage patients on high-flow oxygen and stable home-regimen BiPAP as needed
• Maintain active Illinois RN license and comply with facility drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to monitor and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Willingness to float to ICU for general acute overflow patients or to a campus approximately 25 miles away based on staffing need (minimum 2-hour advance notice provided for off-site float)
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical RN experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• PALS certification preferred
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly in collaborating with PCT staff to ensure comprehensive patient care
