Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex neurological cases including strokes (with/without tPA), ventriculostomies, and post-craniectomy patients
• Titrate physician-ordered drips as required in an ICU environment
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
• Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips using Philips monitoring systems; a tele tech is also staffed on every shift
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, and ventriculostomies; apply NIH Stroke Scale assessment and acute stroke management protocols
• Float to lower levels of care (intermediate or general floors) as staffing requires; travelers float first

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Proficiency with ventriculostomy, ventilator management, arterial lines, central lines, tPA administration, acute stroke management, and post-craniectomy care
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification required
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Neuro ICU or high-acuity neurological care setting
• Familiarity with a wide range of titratable drips in an ICU environment
• Experience working alongside charge nurses, house supervisors, and patient care technicians in a structured ICU team
