Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 43-bed orthopedic unit with all private rooms, serving a wide variety of medical-surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma patients with fractures
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on night shifts, working collaboratively with PCTs (1:7–8 ratio) and a primary charge RN each shift
• Deliver postoperative surgical care and general med-surg care in alignment with unit standards
• Monitor patients using house-wide telemetry pack monitors (Philips); read and interpret own telemetry strips as needed
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory equipment including CPAP and heated high-flow oxygen as needed
• Float to other like med-surg floors occasionally as needed; travel staff are first to float

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Must comply with a drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Locals are welcome — candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Experience in postoperative surgical care and general med-surg nursing
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and Philips monitor systems
