- Registered Nurse - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
Location
- Asheville, North Carolina
Schedule / Job Type
- Full-time, travel contract
- Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 3 shifts per week, 13-week assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to patients in the PCU, including neuro and trauma patients
- Monitor and assess patient status, perform neuro and spinal checks, and manage acute procedures such as chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, and lumbar drains
- Collaborate with medical team to develop and execute patient care plans
- Ensure compliance with unit policies, safety standards, and care protocols
- Document patient information accurately in EMR systems, primarily Cerner
- Maintain a safe, patient-focused environment with a team-oriented approach
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or the applicable state
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience, particularly in step-down, med-surg, neuro, or trauma care
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and on-call as required
- Strong patient communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in neuro and trauma care units
- Familiarity with advanced medical equipment such as IV pumps, chest tubes, PCA pumps, and patient lifts
- Experience with EMR systems, specifically Cerner
