Registered Nurse IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Job Title

• Registered Nurse - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

• Full-time, travel contract
• Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 3 shifts per week, 13-week assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to patients in the PCU, including neuro and trauma patients
• Monitor and assess patient status, perform neuro and spinal checks, and manage acute procedures such as chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, and lumbar drains
• Collaborate with medical team to develop and execute patient care plans
• Ensure compliance with unit policies, safety standards, and care protocols
• Document patient information accurately in EMR systems, primarily Cerner
• Maintain a safe, patient-focused environment with a team-oriented approach

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or the applicable state
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience, particularly in step-down, med-surg, neuro, or trauma care
• Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and on-call as required
• Strong patient communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in neuro and trauma care units
• Familiarity with advanced medical equipment such as IV pumps, chest tubes, PCA pumps, and patient lifts
• Experience with EMR systems, specifically Cerner
