Registered Nurse Medical Surgical

Job Title

• Registered Nurse (Med Surg, Night Shift)

Schedule / Job Type

• Full-time, Night shifts (3x12 hours per week), contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a Med Surg setting.
• Manage patient assessments, medication administration, and IV starts.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records using Cerner.
• Float within two Med Surg units as needed to meet hospital staffing requirements.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and certification requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of recent Med Surg nursing experience.
• Active Illinois nursing license or in the application process with an ETA for license approval.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Experience with IV starts and Cerner charting system.
• Must be willing to float within scope between units.
• Ability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in teaching or community hospitals.
• Knowledge of Cerner electronic health record system.
• Previous experience in Critical Access, Magnet, or Level Trauma hospitals.
