Contract | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
- Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and other clinical equipment including IV pumps and telemetry monitoring
- Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries
- Utilize the Epic electronic health record system, Pyxis medication dispensing, and AccuCheck blood glucose monitoring in daily practice
- Float to other medical units as needed based on patient census and staffing needs; maintain a patient ratio of 1:5–6
Required Qualifications
- Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a facility of 600 or more beds
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Willingness to float to other medical units as directed
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record documentation
- Experience managing complex medical-surgical patients including those with neurological, GI, and infectious diagnoses
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols
