• Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown
Location
• Dayton, OH
Schedule / Job Type
• Full-time, Contract, 12-hour Day shifts, 4 shifts per week
Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialized nursing care for cardiac stepdown patients, including those with heart failure, chest pain, NSTEMI, post-procedure, COPD exacerbation, and overdose/withdrawal management.
• Administer and monitor IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin.
• Interpret EKG strips and perform telemonitoring assessments.
• Assist with patient assessments, medication administration, and documentation using EPIC electronic health records.
• Float to other units as needed, supporting the nursing care team and ensuring continuity of care.
• Comply with infection control protocols, including N95 fitting and potential PAPR use.
Required Qualifications
• Ohio RN license (active or valid temporary license)
• Minimum 1.5 years of hospital nursing experience, including some Level 1 or 2 units preferred
• EPIC electronic health record experience
• Pass online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NIH stroke certification; ACLS preferred, with ability to read and interpret ECG strips
• IV therapy experience, including starting IVs and managing IV drips
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Travel nursing experience highly preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring on PCU or SD units
• Ability to float across multiple campus locations (main, south, or north campuses) within close proximity
• Flexibility to work every other weekend and holiday shifts
