Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct patient care following established standards, policies, and protocols.
• Respect patient dignity and deliver holistic care that promotes positive self-regard.
• Educate patients and families based on individual learning needs, preferences, and barriers.
• Collaboratively plan and prepare patients for discharge, involving support systems as needed.
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by team members appropriately.
• Prioritize patient care, recognize emergencies, and seek assistance or reassign resources accordingly.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care, interventions, and patient responses.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members during daily rounds to ensure continuity of care.
• Promote learning and professional development through peer education and training.
• Identify and report patient safety risks and incidents to reduce health care errors.
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely per physician orders and protocols.
• Assess and manage patient pain, adjusting treatments as necessary, and document responses.
• Conduct medication reconciliation and complete related documentation.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms, initiate appropriate interventions, and respond to life-threatening situations.
• Evaluate abnormal lab and diagnostic results, promptly notifying physicians.
• Provide ongoing assessment and education to patients and families throughout the surgical experience.
• Use pain management devices and techniques to ensure effective pain relief.
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment such as traction devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes, and drains.

Required Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school
• Current Massachusetts RN license
• BLS certification (active or obtained within 60 days of hire)
• MOAB class required within 60 days of hire

Preferred Experience / Skills
• Minimum of 1 year med-surgical nursing experience preferred
• Previous telemetry experience preferred
