Key Responsibilities

• Provide skilled inpatient nursing care to patients in the intermediate monitor/stepdown unit, specifically in cardiac progressive care, tele, and surgical focus areas.
• Float to other units as needed, including post-op cardiac units, with flexibility for diverse patient care needs.
• Ensure all patients receive appropriate care, including post-op cardiac patients, within a six-shift week schedule.
• Follow established protocols and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with hospital standards, including electronic medical records within Epic.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical or critical care nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a focused cardiac, stepdown, or PCU setting.
• Active RN license on file at the time of submission.
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PCCN certification preferred.
• Recent experience (within the last year) in large trauma level 1 hospitals.
• Epic EMR experience from the past two years is mandatory.
• Cardiothoracic, vascular, and post-op cardiac care experience required, including experience managing open and closed heart surgeries.
• Ability to work nights and adhere to a flexible, variable schedule.
• Must have reliable transportation; personal or rental vehicle recommended during winter months.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with cardiothoracic and vascular procedures.
• Prior work in ICU or stepdown units with post-op cardiac patients.
• Ability to perform NIHSS assessments prior to start date.
