Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical education and instruction to hospital staff, with a focus on surgical and clinical personnel, introducing both technical and theoretical concepts through various teaching techniques.
- Support the development of educational programs in collaboration with department managers and clinical nurse coordinators, evaluating programs and participant learning outcomes and implementing appropriate changes.
- Utilize simulation training tools including mannequins and simulation software to deliver hands-on learning experiences.
- Work closely with the Quality Management team and department managers across the system to identify educational opportunities and promote continuous improvement.
- Prioritize and manage multiple assignments independently, communicating barriers to timely completion to the department manager as needed.
- Assist with Quality Department activities as requested and participate in required education for DNV programs applicable to the position.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (experience and national certifications may be considered in place of the degree with a commitment to obtain a Bachelor's degree within 3 years of hire).
- Current Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Active Healthcare Provider (HCP) CPR, CNOR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Minimum of 5 years of hospital nursing experience, including at least 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel), word processing, and internet use; minimum typing speed of 45 WPM.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree strongly preferred.
- Experience developing and delivering courses, including direct teaching, evaluating learning outcomes, and applying teaching theories and learning models.
- Experience utilizing simulation manikins and software in an educational setting.
- Prior experience in a clinical staff educator role and familiarity with electronic health record systems.
