Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity Medical/Surgical floor serving surgical, trauma, and spinal cord injury populations
- Manage care for patients including post-surgical cases, gunshot wound recoveries, quadriplegic, and paraplegic patients
- Maintain a patient assignment ratio of 5:1 with support from nursing techs and phlebotomists
- Complete structured nurse handoff with ED and admitting unit staff during patient transitions
- Collaborate with unit secretary and ancillary support staff to coordinate patient care activities
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing
- Current BLS certification
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records system
- Ability to work assigned shifts; no block scheduling available
- No requested time off (RTO) during contract period
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Current ACLS certification
- Prior experience with trauma or high-acuity surgical patient populations
- Experience caring for spinal cord injury patients including quadriplegic and paraplegic populations
